The event of excellence, “I maestri del Paesaggio” is an International Meeting of the Landscape and Garden, and is an innovative opportunity for most well-known landscape architects and designers. It is one of the most important international events on the subject of landscape, and runs yearly in the Municipality of Bergamo, just an hour away from Milan.
Big names international landscape architecture handpicked by Arketipos already gave talks at the 2013 event including Sophie Agata Ambroise, designer behind Milan’s Hotel Bulgari garden; Marco Bay, landscape architect who worked on the Hangar Bicocca in central Milan as well as the historical gardens of Lake Orta, George Hargreaves, designer of the master plan for the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Tom Stuart Smith, who worked on the new park at Windsor Castle, Hinnerk Wehberg, winner of the 2013 Chelsea Flower Show and Piet Oudolf, behind High Line park, built on the tracks of a former New York railway line (will we ever get one of those in Milan?).
The two week long event just outside Milan includes conferences, and seminars, readings, a photography workshop held by the acclaimed landscape photographer Clive Nichols, a tour of Aperitivi del Paesaggio (Landscape Aperitifs) that takes you through Bergamo’s historical centre making pit stops at well known eateries like the Baretto di San Vigilio, Caffè della Funicolare, Colleoni, dell’Angelo Colombina, Da Franco, Da Mimmo, Gourmet, Lalimentari, La Tana to name but a few.
